Theo Fleury Books

One of the vocal voices on the Right in pop culture, Theo Fleury has become an outspoken opponent of the Left in his home country of Canada where he challenges their narratives openly. In particular, Fleury has amassed a following on Twitter for challenging the government’s draconian Covid-19 lockdowns and vaccine passports.

Fleury is a former professional hockey player in the NHL, who played 11 seasons for the Calgary Flames, along with a selection of other teams. At 5 ft 6 inches tall he was thought to be too small to make the pros, but proved everyone wrong by not just achieving that goal but performing at an elite level, racking up over 1,000 points in his career, winning the Stanley Cup and being an Olympic gold medalist.

His size was hardly the only challenge he needed to overcome, all of which he details in his autobiography Playing With Fire.

Since retiring from hockey, Fleury has appeared on reality TV shows and operated a concrete business. He has also been active in supporting numerous charities.

He might have been one of the smallest players of his era, but Theo Fleury played with big passion.

In this candid autobiography he documents his incredible hard work to make the pros, as well as the demons that haunted him along the way and eventually ended his career early.

Growing up in poverty and in a chaotic household, Fleury overcame these challenges, but developed a substance abuse problem along the way. The story of his glorious highs on the ice are woven together with these problems, which stemmed from sexual abuse as a child.

In fact, Fleury used his book to come clean about abuse by his junior coach Graham James and once published he made his complaint official to the Winnipeg Police Service. James was subsequently arrested and served jail tail.

This book is both inspirational and devastating.
