One of the leading Republicans of our day Senator Ted Cruz is a champion of limited government, a strong supporter of businesses and has always pursued a path of national security.
A believer in the American Dream, Cruz is the byproduct of it. His father Rafeal fled Cuba with only a few dollars sowed into his underwear. Working as a dishwasher he paid for his own University education and went on to earn a degree in mathematics before he started a small business in the oil industry. He met Ted’s mother Eleanor, the first member of her family to graduate from university and who wet on to become one of the first women working as a programmer in the computer industry.
Ted’s parents made a life for him like they never could have imagined. He attended Princeton and then went on to earn a law degree from Harvard. Clearking for Chief Justice Rehnquist after college he worked in private practice as well before joining the George W Bush camaing as a domestic policy advisor. There he met his wife, Heidi.
After holding several more positions in the Bush government he then returned to Texas the the Solicitor General and eventually also went back to private practice.
In 2013 he was sworn into the United States Senate whee he has been an outspoken leader for the Republican party tackling everything from holding foreign enemies (China, Russia) accountable, to battling against Big Tech overreach, to defending the souther border, to supporting small business and a parent’s right to make decisions about their child’s education.
One Vote Away: How a Single Supreme Court Seat Can Change History
While America’s founding fathers may not have intended it this way, the role of the Supreme Court has grown over the years to the point where it could now be the deciding factor in the type of country we become.
Written after the sudden passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg the words of this book are no less significant now, or any time America looks to appoint new person to sit next at the highest court in the land.
With seven justices, one swing vote is all it takes to change America forever. One vote is all it takes to strip away America’s constitutional rights.
Cruz, a man who has spent his entire career, both in the public and private spheres (as a Supreme Court clerk, solicitor general of Texas and as a private litigator) fighting to defending the rights of the Constitution, makes the case of just how important that one vote is.
This book goes into detail to explain how the rights you enjoy today have in the past been decided, and defended, by just one vote.
How important is that vote? How important is free speech, your ability to exercise your faith, the right to bear arms?
“God may endow us with ‘certain unalienable rights,’ but whether we enjoy them depends on nine judges.”
A Time for Truth: Reigniting the Promise of America
Defending the rights or ordinary citizens, Ted Cruz has battled against the Washington swamp since his election to the US Senate in 2012.
In A Time for Truth, he explains why, while sharing his frustrations with the corruption and gridlock inside the Beltway.
More importantly, Cruz puts forward his action plan, not just for himself, but for all Americans, so everyone can contribute to taking back their country and, dare we say it, make America great again.
