Author of almost 100 books, Peter Kreeft is a professor of philosophy at Boston College. A convert Roman Catholicism, his books focus on philosophy, Christianity and Catholicism, with many seeking to distil complex ideas and arguments down into easy-to-understand ideas that can be accessible to a far wider audience. And applied practically to the modern world.
His prolific writing might best be explained by a story out of St. Augustine’s writings, in which a little boy was emptying the ocean onto the sand using a thimble. In this vision, an angel told St. Augustine that the boy would have completed this task before he had written everything there is to say about God.
His conversion to Catholicism came via his own investigation of the faith for a research paper in university. He also sites an argument posed by C S Lewis that, “the Catholic Church’s claim to be the one true Church, the Church Christ founded, forces us to say either that this is the most arrogant, blasphemous and wicked claim imaginable, if it is not true, or else that she is just what she claims to be.”
