Mitchell Zuckoff books

It’s often said that the Obama Administration operated for eight years without any major scandals. That couldn’t be further from the truth. And one of the most shocking is the story told by Mitchell Zuckoff in his gripping true story “13 Hours.”

Popularized by the Michael Bay film of the same name, Zuckoff shines a spotlight on the events of September 11, 2012 when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and nearby CIA station in Benghazi, Libya.

That enemies would attack a US compound in a dangerous country is no controversy, but the inaction of the Obama Administration most certainly is.

Setting politics aside, Zuckoff tells the story of the attack from the words of six security contractors who risked their lives (and in some cases lost their lives) to defend more than 30 American citizens who had essentially been abandoned by their government.

The book doesn’t touch on subsequent controversies about the Obama administration’s misleading claims about the attack, or the repeated and unanswered requests by the US Ambassador to Libya, J. Christopher Stevens for added security. It does, however, deal with the very real aftermath of those ignored pleas for protection and the fact that the world’s mightiest superpower sat by and watched (literally) as Americans lost their lives.

Shocking, it’s also full of courage, heroism and honor for a group of civilians who risked their lives to bring Americans home safe.
