Once called “The most successful failed presidential candidate in the history of our country,” Mike Huckabee has been giving a voice to Christians across America since he first ran for office back in 1992.

Huckabee served his community as a Baptist minister and his country as the 44th governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. He ran for the Republican nomination in both 2008 and 2016, coming a surprise second in the 2008 contest.

Between 2008 and 2015 he hosted the Huckabee show on Fox News and from 2012 to 2013 he also hosted a syndicated radio program.

Huckabee wears his religious heart on his sleeve and has never been shy about being open about his religious views, even when that wasn’t something you did. Fiscally conservative he says his political views came from his working-class upbringing. A social conservative, he’s pro-life and a defender of the sanctity of marriage as between one man and one woman, pro second amendment and in favor of tight borders.

After dropping out of the 2016 Republican presidential primary he threw his support behind President Donald Trump. He also openly supported an investigation into accusations of misconduct in the 2020 election results.

A social Conservative, Huckabee details in his book “Do the Right Thing” how he campaigned on Christina values as well as common sense Conservative ideals that appealed to working-class Americans. While Huckabee’s nationwide political aspirations were never affirmed, this book speaks to his supporters and other Americans and in many ways represents an evolution within the GOP. Long seen as the party of Wall Street, it has been reborn as the party of the American worker.

Huckabee continues that message in his 2011 book “A Simple Government.” In it he puts out a call for limited government and limited government interference, a philosophy espoused by contemporaries like Ben Carson.

He details how President Obama’s message of “hope and change” quickly turned into “tax and spend” and why this is putting America on the wrong path. Fiscally he details a prudent financial plan to not spend what you don’t have. Politically he argues that the best level of government to solve problem is the most local form of government that can. When it comes to foreign policy he espouses the concept that diplomacy only works when you have leverage and leverage comes in the form of a powerful military. And perhaps most importantly he puts his faith in the family as the best system of government and the wants to give more autonomy back to individuals to make decisions for their families and put in place support structures to help parents do the best job possible.

In addition to these, Huackabee also writes on the issue of weight gain, from a personal perspective. Plus, he details the concept of personal legacy in “Living Beyond Your Lifetime” and “Dear Chandler, Dear Scarlet” a book written to his grandchildren, outlining what matters most in life.

His most recent book “God, Guns, Grits and Gravy” Huckabee gives a shocking account of what has happened to the America he grew up with, while also giving an inspiring look at the country’s future, based on the values, hard-work and patriotism of every day Americans.
