As a professor, Michael Rectenwald experienced how radical Left wing ideology infiltrated American universities first hand. He began to see the injustices within the social justice movement and in 2016 took to Twitter to critique wokeness in American universities and colleges under the username @antiPCNYUProf.

His account grew in popularity, and he eventually revealed himself in an article in the Washington Square News, New York University’s weekly student newspaper. Shortly afterward, Rectenwald was asked to take a leave of absence. He eventually retired from his position as Professor of Liberal Studies and Global Liberal Studies at NYU in 2019.

Rectenwald has also taught at Duke University, North Carolina Central University, Carnegie Mellon University, and Case Western Reserve University.

Author of numerous books his scholarly writings have been published in The Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics, Endeavour, The British Journal for the History of Science, College Composition and Communication and International Philosophical Quarterly.

He’s written essays that have appeared in The Washington Post and The Epoch Times as well appearing on political talk shows like Tucker Carlson Tonight, Fox & Friends and The Glenn Beck Show.

Currently Rectenwald is the Chief Academic Officer and co-founder of American Scholars, an education platform that generates educational content and lessons focusing on God, family and country.

Springtime for Snowflakes: ‘Social Justice’ and Its Postmodern Parentage

A thorough critique of social justice as well as a memoir of his life as a professor on the inside, Michael Rectenwald reveals his life inside the social justice machine and how he came to fight back against it.

Taking a philosophical approach, he outlines the postmodern theory that forms the backbone of social justice concepts and the woke mob.

At the same time, he takes a personal journey from his early education inside the American university system, where he was taught to accept postmodernism, Marxism and the Frankfurt School of Critical Theory. Over time, however, he sees the flaws in these systems and how injustice and hypocrisy were often both the motivation and the result.

His concerns were confirmed by he treatment he received when he began to speak out against the establishment.

An insightful memoir, Springtime for Snowflakes: ‘Social Justice’ and Its Postmodern Parentage is also a damning critique of the social justice movement from both a practical and philosophical perspective.

Big Tech, as a Michael Rectenwald calls it “Big Digital” is the target of this insightful book that delves into the reach, power and ideology behind the tech companies that control so much of modern life.

From Google to Facebook, Twitter to LinkedIn and more, these social media companies not only have more power than the government in some respects, they also fulfill a governmental role in our society.

With incredible control over all aspects of our social lives, Rectenwald puts forward the thesis that these companies have become a sort of private government and they function not just as businesses but with an ideological bent which they then use to censor public discussion. And their ideology is on the far left, a sort of “Google Marxism.”

Perhaps most interesting and controversial is the idea Rectenwald puts forth that Leftist ideology isn’t just something Big Digital’s leaders have infused into their companies, or that their geography or demographics have made inevitable. Rather, he argues that the Leftist ideology is innate to the internet, as well as everything from social media to AI.

(The theory of Google Marxism is one being pushed on the Left as “Stakeholder Capitalism,” something excellently covered in Woke Inc. by Vivek Ramaswamy.)

Rectenwald details how Big Digital rose to power and why it is inherently authoritarian and, therefore, dangerous.
