Alex Marlow is the Editor-in-Chief of Breitbart.com, who rose through the ranks from being Andrew Breitbart’s assistant, to eventually take the reigns of what is now the single largest cultural force for Conservatism in America.
Marlow believes the mission of Breitbart isn’t just to tell the news, but in doing so to fight the culture war. While individuals like Steve Bannon may put the focus more on Democrats, Marlow has long said his focus is on fostering the true Conservative values shared by so many Americans which are not shared by many leading the Republican party. In essence, he’s focused on securing the base of Conservatism in America.
In an interview with the New York Times he stated that, “Our goal is not influence; it is reporting and highlighting stories important to grass roots conservatives. Our focus on issues like spending, trade and particularly immigration are a reflection of the fact that there are massive populations of center-right Americans who do not favor the policies most often associated with the Republican Party establishment.”
In his first book, Breaking the News: Exposing the Establishment Media’s Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption takes direct aim at the establishment media. In the lead up to the 2016 election both Breitbart and Donald Trumo began to push the message around fake news, knowing it would resonate with a huge portion of the country who were fed up with being told blatant lies. In this highly researched book Marlow documents exactly how the left-wing media and Silicon Valley tech giants distort the truth. More than just a critical take, Marlow, always at the forefront of political opinion, previews things to come by showcasing how lying to the American people is a long-term recipe for disaster, even for Democrats.
