The Emerging Populist Majority

The Emerging Populist Majority delves into the future of American politics, examining the evolving coalitions shaped by demographic, geographic, and ideological trends.

Authors Troy M. Olson and Gavin M. Wax argue that America is on the brink of a new political era. Building on the unexpected victory of Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, they contend that the populist movement reshaping American politics is far from over. They predict that this movement will dominate the political landscape for the rest of the twenty-first century.

Drawing parallels to Kevin P. Phillips’ late 1960s prediction of Republican dominance and the coalition shifts seen in the 2006 midterm wave and Barack Obama’s 2008 election, Olson and Wax position their book both within this historical context and as a challenge to conventional realignment narratives. They scrutinize the elite structures of American society, casting doubt on widely accepted political forecasts.

The Emerging Populist Majority is a comprehensive analysis of America’s changing political landscape, offering insights into the populist wave that promises to redefine the nation’s future.
